Bannatyne’s Charlton House in Shepton Mallet has appointed high-flying hospitality specialist Phil Brown as the spa hotel’s new General Manager.
Having worked for respected hotel groups including Hotel du Vin and Malmaison, Bristol-born Phil is returning to the South West to drive forward Bannatyne’s vision to transform Charlton House into a destination of choice for local people and visitors from across the UK and abroad.
Phil, 29, has fourteen years’ experience in the hospitality industry holding a range of management positions in Bristol, Brighton and Harrogate, North Yorkshire. He was also a member of the openings team at Malmaison and Hotel du Vin and played a key roll in the opening of nine hotels over a two year period.
Phil joins Bannatyne’s after spending time as a consultant working with hospitality groups on hotel openings and brand amalgamation projects.
Bannatyne’s acquired Charlton House earlier this year and has already embarked on a six-figure programme of refurbishments and upgrades to the hotel and its high quality facilities.
Located in The Mendips, the hotel boasts 26 individually designed bedrooms, a thermal spa and a stunning two AA Rosettes conservatory restaurant serving local and international dishes.
Central to the redevelopments has been the improvements to the thermal spa, which has included the introduction of a completely new range of relaxing and rejuvenating treatments.
As an established spa operator, with 28 sites nationwide, Bannatyne’s has developed specialist treatments with its skin care partner, Elemis, manicures from celebrity nail specialist, Leighton Denny and mineral make up with ID Bare Escentuals, all of which are available at Charlton House.
Bannatyne’s established range of relaxing and rejuvenating treatments perfectly compliment the spa’s key features, which include an indoor and outdoor heated hydrotherapy pool with built-in massaging beds, a Finnish sauna and a Crystal Steam Room.
Phil said: “Bannatyne’s has an enviable track record in the leisure industry and I am very pleased to be part of its growing hotel business.
“I am really pleased to be back in the South West. Bannatyne’s Charlton House is an exceptional spa hotel, which has a great history and an even more exciting future as part of the Bannatyne Group.”
He added: “I am particularly keen to further build Charlton House’s reputation as the ideal wedding venue in the South West.
“The stability Bannatyne’s brings to Charlton House, along with its extensive hospitality sector experience, allows the hotel to again become a popular wedding venue.
“We hold a licence to host civil ceremonies and can cater for up to 120 wedding guests inside the hotel and even larger numbers in a marquee.”
